open

it's friday and now open for your cool finds, old or new... bought or seen... whatever caught your eye... [you can post your friday's finds by adding your link and/or url in the comments section below.] on my way home from work the other night, i passed by this huge mall. joe and i actually did go inside this place a couple of years ago when we first moved back to the midwest. thinking it was already closed (since it was already after 5:30 pm cst), i drove into the parking lot behind the building and saw that the back door was WIDE open! and you know what that means, look out! since i hadn't stepped into this antique place in a long while, i was amazed! it was like stepping back in time. the place was packed with anything and everything under the sun that you could possibly imagine. awestruck and dazed, i walked around and around and around this gigantic time warp of a place and i literally lost track of time! there was so much to see! and i couldn't believe that i was in there for two hours! {it didn't seem that long!} it dawned on me that joe would wonder why i hadn't come home yet...so i promptly called him...he was like, oh, no! but i told him i was only looking {honestly!} and taking all sorts of pictures {for you know, my blog}... this is what i managed to find in that incredible mall i described above. an old book, titled vocal expression {the therapist in me found this appealing}, a charming vintage pocketbook, vintage photo, a metal flower frog, a few vintage postcards and a piece of wooden board painted white [i just adore distressed painted wooden objects, remnants of something else, like perhaps a shelf, bookcase...i think this would be perfect for a sign!] i really didn't spend very much for the above items, particularly since this was an impromtu stop on the way home from work! stopping by that place reminded me of this book that i found last tuesday, the reclaimers, from a place, coincindetally enough, called tuesday morning...in this book, i began to understand why i am drawn to things old, antique and patinaed...it reaffirmed my belief that there is still beauty and use in reclaimed, salvaged things from the past... and that antique mall that i visited the other night was chock full of reclaimed things, like what you see above. it was an incredible thrill to the senses>>> the looking, the touching, the imagining of the many possibilities... oh, how i would love this in my studio...[huge sigh]...oh well, i can always visit it from time to time...& dream. Mary Ann,

I did a Friday Find post, BUT it probably isn't what you had in mind, but it works for me. I love the concept though. Way to go!

When I'm rich I'll be the first in the queue to get that cabibet draw thingy, and then get a studio too.
