all that glitters

after my visit with jean at her shop today, i went to the capital {aka "mad"} city to check out this vintage shop that i read about here... not too familiar with this part of town, i became increasingly mad driving around in circles because all the darn one-way streets drove me mad ... but i finally wound my way to the>>> & in the magazine article, the writer reported that this shop was full of vintage stuff as well as artsy-craftsy stuff...& i was intrigued by its name, the glitter workshop...sounded so sparkly! yes, there were vintage stuff as well as local artists' handiwork & even a florist shop! but i was somewhat let-down mainly because i had a different picture in my mind...like i thought, where's the glitter?!!!! & where's the vintage antiques that i was led to believe? i mean, there were vintage clothes & even repurposed vintage clothes, along with designer originals...but, the trip was not a total loss, because i discovered a few nifty things as you can see below... i really was taken by the fabulously clever creations of recycle artist, emily kirchner...this shop carried her products & they are wicked clever! i wonder if she's been featured on that hgtv show called, that's clever ... because she definitely fits the criteria for that show! i loved this pink knit pocketbook {aka purse} with a sweet felt flower...i was tempted to buy it, but i think i will hold off for now...but i did walk by it a few times to {sigh}... i did, though, get the kitty catnip toy & pin cushion...this gal is said to use everyday objects & turn it into a functional piece of art...just love to support local artists...speaking of which, next saturday the glitter workshop is sponsoring an art/craft fair, which i'm told will be in its sixth year...i'm gonna mark my calendar for this one as it's always so much fun to go to something like this>>>to see what artists are creating these days & not to mention, maybe get some ideas for the memory files... {smile}. Hi! I own The Glitter Workshop in Madison. Thank you so much for visiting us and for supporting a locally owned business.

Sorry to dissapoint you with the antiques. We do carry some vintage items, but I'm not sure why we get listed under antiques.

We do carry hand-crafted goodies from over 100 local and national artists though and are thrilled to be hosting the fourth High Noon Craftacular.

    Thanks again!
