a good day!

i was driving along the interstate when this huge rig pulled up ahead of me...i'm not into racing whatsoever, but i have never seen a GIANT size photo of someone on the back of a semi...haven't a clue who this dude is but it said, david powers all over the truck...i kept trying to get ahead of this truck for about 10 miles or so, but it kept wanting to be in front of me...tired of fighting, i just stayed back...until my exit finally came! i was heading to rubber stamp rendezvous to register for this upcoming stamping & paper arts event in the town where i's in a couple of weeks (8/19-20) ... i got to the stamp store, registered for the show, talked with the store owner about new products that i had seen in the latest issue of cloth paper scissors, browsed around her store, picked up a couple of nifty papers, re-inkers, etc...i mentioned to her that i drove in from wisconsin (well, just came over the border of wisconsin & illinois) & she asked me if i had been to the stampin' place in town...i said that i had...she said, no, the other one...i said, there's another one & in the 3 years that we've been there i didn't sniff that out?! she gave me a biz card & told me to check it out>>>& you know what, i did! it's on the way home, i rationalized, & i could not get over that this place has alluded me for 3 years! lol! so off i went... & was i ever so glad! it's a little out of the way place, called crackerbox palace, tucked in what looks to be mostly residential area (they don't have a website as of yet)'s across the rxr tracks from the downtown area...wasn't i delighted to discover that they have cool selections of stamps & hold very fun design & technique classes! yay! i met one of the gals who works there & was she ever so wicked friendly! i couldn't believe that we talked for almost 2 hours! she is extremely engaging & passionate stamper & i have not come across someone offline like her! it was fantastic to meet her...i was there long enough to meet the shop owners, a wife & husband team... they were friendly as well. the wife is the stamp artist while her husband makes custom art & business stamps & at reasonable prices too! i'm so glad to know this bec. i think i might be sending a custom order his way very soon! why is it that whenever i meet someone offline who shows me that they are passionate about the same thing that i am that i inevitably end up joining their club or something crazy like that(like, ahem, the herb society, for one big fat example, lol!)...i just signed up for a couple of card swaps!!!! & i just met these people today! prior to that i had not even known of their existence! i guess that is what happens when you bump into people who genuinely share the same passion as you...yikes! which reminds me...i have to get crack-a-lackin' on the kiddie/party hat atc swap over at audrey's blog asap...i just got an email this morning saying that i have till aug 26th to send all FIVE of my atcs to her! {hey audrey, not to worry...i will get those out to you soon!!!!} ...i'll be going to st. louis next weekend to visit & craft with my on & offline buddy, angie wangie (this will be fun!)...i plan on getting those atcs done in time for audrey's swap... speaking of swaps, when i finally got home after all afternoon livin', breathin' & talkin' stamping...i had this lovely surprise waiting for me! it was from beki (yay!), my wristlet world swap partner>>> I LOVE THIS BEKI! this rocks!!!! you rock!!!! so this is what an expert sewer can do>>>i totally bow down to you my dear! totally looks PROFESSIONAL!!!! & all the wonderful goodies she sent with the fab wristlet!!!!! i love everything beki>>>thank you, thank you , thank you so much! i am absolutely amazed by the wicked cunning details>>> the colors, applique, the braided/knotted button! SO FAB! you gotta love swaps! also, big thanks to kelli for coming up with this fantastic swap! what a way to end a perfectly smashing afternoon! now i have to go to beki's blog & thank her there too {smile}... (p.s., my wristlet partner, karen, does not have a blog but she recently emailed me & told me how much she enjoyed everything & she couldn't believe that i sewed her wristlet by hand!) It sounds like you had a good day. How lucky you are to meet people who share your passions. That doesn't happen often in my life.
I'm glad you liked your wristlet.

Very nice! Some very talented ladies in our wristlet swap, from what I can see.
I set up a blog shortly after the swap started, but I hadn't figured out how to post pictures on it yet when I got the great package from you, so I only talked about it. : ) It'll be neat to see all the wristlets on the flickr site when it's set up.
